This is part 1 of a 4 part blog series summarizing key findings from the recently published research report “2022 State of Multilingual Collaboration”. The study was completed by Dimensional Research with 203 marketing and sales professionals who manage meetings and events for companies with more than 500 employees. The focus was on how translation and interpretation is used to help improve the experience and outcomes for multilingual meetings and events.

The research showed 77% of respondents saw an increase in multilingual meetings and events last year. A primary driver for the increase was the shift to virtual events during the pandemic. Even as Covid declines, the trend toward more multilingual meetings is expected to continue growing. 72% report they expect the number to increase in the next year. Since the research was fielded in English, the focus was on attendees who do not speak English as their primary language and participate in meetings conducted in English.

60% reported that they typically have attendees who speak more than 5 non-English languages as their primary language - and 23 have 11 or more languages at their events.
